SACIRR: a short description
Thanks to a grant from the Roberts Fund, we will run, in parallel to our weekly astronomy seminars, a special series of seminars entitled "Seminars in Astrophysics and Cosmology by Internationally Recognized Researchers (SACIRR)". This series of talks will run throughout 2008-2009.
As the title indicates, the aim is to bring internationnally established researcher to the IfA and for them to present two sets of talks: one colloquium style presentation, aimed at the whole institute, and another one aimed to a more specialised audience. Particular emphasis will be given to the speaker to interact directly with staff, post-docs and postgraduates, but also with enthusiastic undergraduates.
For more information about the SACIRR seminar programme, or to suggest additional speakers or improvements to the programme, please contact Peder Norberg, the SACIRR coordinator.
Additional talks at the IfA:
- Astronomy seminars on Wednesdays at 4pm in the Lecture Theatre, organised by Peder Norberg
- ROE Morning coffee talks: 11:00am in the ROE canteen, organised by Michele Cirasuolo
- University of Edinburgh School of Physics: a series of General Interest Seminars held at the JCMB, Kings Buildings.
