This hotel is about 2 miles by road from the Royal Observatory Edinburgh (ROE).There is a walking route that is about 1.25 miles.

The walking route is shown on the map below. The red route follows the road. A short cut (blue) is possible if the you're happy to go across country. Leave the road at the corner of Hermitage and Midmar Drive and cut across a grass field. You'll see some rough steps heading up the hill in front towards a large mast (satellite/televison/radio dishes etc). Basically you're heading for these steps (warning: steep) which you follow up to the mast. There is a service road at the mast which you follow down to the observatory car park and round to the observatory entrance. Likely to be muddy in wet weather
