Submillimetre and Millimetre Maps.

SHADES aimed ultimately to cover half a square degree at 450 and 850μm to a depth of around 8mJy 4.0σ at 850μm. Two fields were observed, the Subaru/XMM-Newton Deep Field (centered on 02h18m-05°) and the Lockman Hole East (centered on 10h52m+57°). This survey extends upon the previous mapping of the Lockman Hole East for the SCUBA 8-mJy deep field survey.

Submillimetre Common User Bolometer Array (SCUBA) maps

SCUBA was retired after mapping only 40% of the final total area, ≅720arcmin2: the area shown in the first two plots below. The two fields have been observed to a median depth of 1σ to 2.2mJy per beam at 850μm and 25mJy per beam at 450μm.

Greyscale shows the SCUBA 850μm signal-to-noise ratio map. Red circles show the positions of the official SHADES 850μm sources given here.

Astronomical Thermal Emission Camera (AzTEC) maps

In Autumn 2005 the area was expanded using the AzTEC camera on the JCMT at a wavelength of 1.1mm. The Lockman Hole map covered 0.66 square degrees (2390 square arcminutes) and the SXDF map covered 0.81 square degrees (2920 square arcminutes).

Greyscale shows the AzTEC 1.1mm signal-to-noise ratio map. Red circles show the positions of the official SHADES sources given here. Blue contour shows the area covered by the SCUBA maps shown above.
