We emphasise that all previous work for the WFCAM science archive will be undertaken as development work for VISTA, i.e. we will design scalable solutions for WFCAM in the light of on-going analysis of VISTA requirements. Staff effort will be phased over 2003 - 2004 from specific WFCAM science archive development into analysis of the scalability of these hardware and software (SX) solutions to VISTA (note that in addition Section 4(b) describes an Informatics R&D strand investigating alternative database designs). However, we anticipate a milestone at the end of '04 Q1 at which VISTA specific work will begin in earnest. The resource requirement over the period '04 Q2 through '06 Q3 will be 1.5 staff-years.
