In Edinburgh, Heavens and Taylor are at the forefront of development and application of new analysis methods for cosmological data sets. Much of this work has been focused so far on the IRAS Point Source Catalogue Redshift survey (PSCz), for which Will Saunders is the PI. For this all-sky survey, we developed power spectrum analysis in spherical polar coordinates, allowing, for the first time, the real-space power spectrum and the degree of redshift distortion to be estimated. More recent surveys, such as the Anglo-Australian 2-degree field survey (2dF) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, should also be analysed in the same way, despite their more limited sky coverage.
