Matriculation

Postgraduate students are required to matriculate at the start of their period of study and each October thereafter until they submit their theses. Matriculation is performed by the staff of the University Registry and takes place in Adam House on Chambers Street.

Enrolment for the 2003-2004 session will be as follows:

All students must matriculate during the period 30 September to 10 October between 9.15am to 12.15pm and 1.45pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday and 9.15am to 12 noon and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Saturday 4 October.

Prior to matriculating, you need to pick up your matriculation forms from the Faculty office at KB - details of this should have been sent to you. You will need to take these along to Adam House when you matriculate. You should also take along the following documents

  1. Letter of admission from the Faculty of Science,

  2. Evidence that fees will be paid direct to the University by a public body (eg. letter from PPARC notifying award of studentship),

  3. Formal proof of identity (eg. passport or birth certificate)

Be prepared for a long wait. Quieter times are before 10:30 am, and on Monday the 30th, when only postgraduate students matriculate.

All matriculated students are required to have a University Card as proof of identity. Again, details should already have been sent to you.

Students requiring further information (e.g. non-PPARC students with more complicated fee-paying arrangements or those requiring enrolment by post, due to absence from Edinburgh during October) should contact the Postgraduate Section at The Registry, Old College. The office hours for the Registry are 9.30am - 12.30pm (except on Wednesdays, when they open at 10.00am) and 1.30pm - 4.30 pm (during term-time only) During the period Monday, 1$^{st}$ October to Friday, 19$^{th}$ October, they are closed and all business will be conducted from Adam House.
