A few pictures of the European Southern Observatory's VLT telescope complex at Cerro Paranal in Chile.

A general view of the site. The visitors hotel is cut into the hillside, under the dome. The telescopes are on the chopped off hill in the distance.

All four of the huge telescopes. You can also see one of the tunnels which are used to link the VLTs, plus some smaller outrigger telescopes, together to make an interferometer.

Sunset, time to go to work.
