The European Extremely Large Telescope

RAS specialist meeting, London, 9 May 2008

For info contact: Chris Evans [cje .at. roe.ac.uk]

The European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT) is now in its detailed design phase. With an unprecedented primary aperture, and correction for ground-layer turbulence, the telescope will offer a tremendous leap forward in our ground-based capabilities. This meeting will provide an introduction to the telescope design, the overall science case, and will give an overview of UK activity in ELT instrumentation studies. The afternoon session features contributed science talks.

The meeting will be held in Burlington House, Piccadilly, London. An entry fee of £15 is collected for non-members of the RAS (£5 for students with a valid student card). A light lunch will be available for purchase at the apartments of Burlington House. Further logistical details can be found at the RAS meetings pages.
