Activities for teachers and schools
We provide curriculum-linked activities to inspire and support teachers, pupils and students in their science education.
- CPD sessions for teachers.
- The Royal Observatory visits your school.
- Class visits to the Observatory.
- Web resources for teachers.
- Other science education projects and initiatives.
- Competitions for schools.

We use models to help us imagine our Solar System.
We suggest that teachers use our activities in the following sequence:
1. Attend a CPD session to build your own confidence
in this area and to gain ideas for the classroom.
2. Use the Starlab to inspire and engage your pupils.
3. A visit to the Observatory will offer pupils a chance to reinforce their
learning in the classroom, experience one of Scotland’s leading scientific
centres and perhaps a chance to discuss the Big Bang and Black Holes with
one of our astronomers!
