August 2003 - Approach Road:
The approach road to the peak and the preparation of the peak have now been completed. The road is some 1.6 Km long and a platform large enough to take the VISTA Telescope enclosure and Auxiliary Building, along with sufficient room for construction activity. The contractor, Constructora San Miguel of Calama, Chile, was contracted by the VPO through ESO; we did receive good support from Paranal.

VISTA Road - June 2003
Asphalting has started in Paranal. The hot mix asphalt is being trucked from Antofagasta and can be laid at around 300m per day (4m standard width with 5.5m passing places)
