Input-Optics and Calibration module
There are two main sub-systems within MIRI - the Imager and the Integral Field Spectrometer. To interface these sub-systems with the telescope there is a separate input-optics sub-system (IOC). The IOC is part of the MIRI Optical Bench Assembly. It is designed to pick-off the MIRI field of view from the JWST Fine Steering Mirror and to relay the relevant parts of this FOV into the spectrometer and into Imager sub-systems. The IOC additionally provides in-flight calibration fluxes to the Imager and is mounted onto the MIRI primary structure (deck) and is operated at about 8 K.
