Part of the Vela Supernova remnant taken from one of the first 2-hour test H-alpha exposures

The positive image shown was taken from a 2 hour test H-alpha exposure of the Vela Supernova remnant using the new H-alpha interference filter and Tech-Pan emulsion as the detector. The scanned image is 3.5 x 4.7 degrees with the top left hand corner being in the North-East and viewed `emulsion up'.

Smaller higher resolution 0.4 x 0.52 degree region from above image centred on 08:30:59 -43:08:43 (1950). All images are from simple flat-bed scanner reproductions of the original films and do not reflect the full information content inherent in the original films.
