The routine to create a bigimage has to be told the name of the (already existing) subdirectory to hold the bigimage, the number of lanes in the bigimage, the lane width in pixels, the lane height in pixels and the data type of the pixel data. It creates and writes the header file and creates an empty file for each lane.
